ನಾನು ಇಷ್ಟು ದಿನ ಗೀಚಿದ್ದ ಕವನಗಳನ್ನು ಒಂದು ಹೊಸ ಬ್ಲಾಗ್ ಗೆ ಸ್ಥಳಾಂತರಿಸಿದ್ದೇನೆ. "ಮನಸು ಮಾತು" ಗೆ ಭೇಟಿ ಕೊಡಿ ನಿನ್ನ ಅನಸಿಕೆ ತಿಳಿಸಿ.

Dates of the Mahabharatha

Mahabharatha, one of the greatest epics of Hinduism written by Veda Vyasa. There has been so many speculations in the recent times if the story of Mahabharatha did indeed occur or if it was the excellent story scripted by the maharishi. Whether the holy war between the Kauravas and the Pandavas was indeed fought in Kurukshetra, located in the present-world Haryana.

The archeological excavations of the cities of Harappa and Mohenjadaro has shown evidences of the Mahabharatha. There has been numerous attempts to date the occurrence of the Mahabharatha. I am currently reading the book "ಶ್ರೀ ಮಹಾಭಾರತ ಪಾತ್ರ ಪ್ರಪಂಚ" by Prof. K.S.Narayanacharya which describes the exact date of the various incidents in the story of Mahabharatha based on the astronomical evidences present in the epic itself. I am listing here the dates of the various incidents of the Mahabharatha as provided in the book.

• August 31st, 3114 B.C, Tuesday - Birth of Yudhisthira
• July 26th, 3112 B.C - Friday - 11:40PM - Birth of Sri Krishna.
• Arjuna born in Shukla Chaturthi - Uttara Phalgni Nakshatra on a friday. He is 47 days elder to Krishna.
• Pandavas returned back to Hastinavati after Pandus death in July 3099 BC. Yudhisthira was 14 years 9 months 11 days old.
• Draupadi's swayamvara - April 3091 B.C
• Building of Indraprasta - November 3091BC
• Rajasuya Yaga was performed by Yushishira -Nov 3083BC to Oct 3082BC
• Abhimanyu was born in February 3083 BC
• The game of "Dyutha" and Pandava vanavaasa started in Nov 3081 BC for a total of 13 lunar years + 5 lunar months +12 days.
• Agyaata vaasa began in Margashira maasa 3069BC. Margashira Krishna Navami, 3068BC, Arjuna was spotted by Kauravas in the Virata war.

• The war of MAHABHARATHA -Started on Friday, Margashira Shukla Ekadhashi in Krithikka Nakshatra. November 22nd 3067BC. This is the same day when the discourse of Bhagavad Gita took place in the battle field of Kurukshetra.

• The war went on for 18 days.
• Bhishma died on Shukla Ashtami - 58 days from the start of the war.
• Post war, Yudhishira ruled for 36 years.
• End of Krishnaavatara - Friday, 13th April, 3031BC
• Start of Kali Yuga - 13th October, 3115BC

The Himalayas

Its been five months since I did this trek to Sarpass near Kullu in the Himalayas and I am still stuck with that feeling of adventure, freshness and the madness that only the sight of Himalayas can inject into you. It was my first of lot-more-to-come treks of the Himalayas. For somebody who was always mesmerized by the beauty of the western ghats, the himalayas is a totally different experience that comes with unbounded natural beauty and great adventure. Himalayas is something that is to be experienced and not explained.

People say that a picture tells a thousand words. So lets cut the story short and enjoy a few pics of the trek.

50th Post

Yaaaayyyyyy!!! Let the celebrations begin...


50th post on my blog. A Journey that started almost two years ago with a tiny step has come a long distance. I started the blog primarily to record my trekking experience and then it has moved on to various other topics as well. I never expected my interest in writing to last so long..It feels as if Venkatesh Prasad (if you still remember him) has just scored a fifty!!

It has been a great journey so far...and a long way to go..

Keep watching this place..A lot more to come..

ಕನ್ನಡ ಟಿ-ಶರ್ಟ್

ಕನ್ನಡ ಕವನಗಳ ಸಾಲು ಹೊತ್ತ ಟಿ-ಶರ್ಟ್ ಗಳನ್ನು ಬಹಳ ದಿನಗಳಿಂದ ಹುಡುಕುತಿದ್ದೆ. ಇಂದು ಅಂತಹ ಒಂದನ್ನು ಖರೀದಿಸಿದ್ದಾಯಿತು. ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಒಂದು ಸಂಸ್ಥೆ ಮತ್ತು ಕೆಲವು ಸ್ನೇಹಿತರ ಪರಿಚಯವೂ ಆಯಿತು. ಸಮಾಜ ಸೇವಕರ ಸಮಿತಿ ಹೊರತಂದಿರುವ ಈ ಟಿ-ಶರ್ಟ್ ಗಳ ಹಿಂದೆ ಒಂದು ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ಆಲೋಚನೆ, ಕ್ರಿಯೆ ಅಡಗಿದೆ. ಈ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆ ಬಳ್ಳಾರಿ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಗ್ರಾಮೀಣ, ಬಡ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ಎರಡು ಶಾಲೆಯನ್ನು ನಡೆಸುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಸದಸ್ಯರ ದೇಣಿಗೆ ಮತ್ತು ಕನ್ನಡ ಟಿ-ಶರ್ಟ್, ಅಂಚೆ ಕಾರ್ಡ್ ಗಳ ಮಾರಾಟದಿಂದ ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಜ್ಞಾನಾರ್ಜನೆಗೆ ಸಹಾಯ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಇನ್ನು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ವಿಚಾರವನ್ನು ಮುಂದೆ ಬರೆಯುವೆ...

F1 is back

After a fantastic season last year where the championship was undecided until the last corner of the brazilian grand prix, F1 is back. After all the pre-season speculations regarding the rules, teams and the money involved in the game, finally the race for the best driver title starts tomorrow at Albert park,Australia.

Too many questions to be answered in this season... Will Hamilton defend his title with a struggling Mclaren??.. Can Ferrari get back the driver championship??..Will Alonso move on to Ferrari next year??.. Have Honda done a real big mistake by selling their team to Brawn GP who looks to be supreme form??... Only time will give the answers..

Dont forget to catch tomorrow's race at 11:30 AM IST..

Update:: Surprise, Surprise..(or is it???? ) Jenson Button on pole for tomorrow's race as Brawn GP take the first row. Will Button win a race after 3 years, the last one being in Hungary ,2006??.

Been long long time

Yes, it has been more than a month since I wrote my last post on my blog. My blog has been sleeping all these days whereas I have been hardly able to catch some sleep. Sometimes things make your mind so much pre-occupied that you hardly feel interested to do your normal day work let alone updating the blog.

This is just a wake call for my blog and my way of telling the world that am still alive :-P

Btw, recently there has been so much buzz around twitter. Almost everybody looks to be twittering. I thought I should try my hands on twitter too and here I am ...

No Onions Nor Garlic

I escaped from office early today evening just to finish reading the remaining 100 pages of this truly hilarious novel . No Onions Nor Garlic , written by Srividya Natarajan is a total fun , comic novel with loads of I-dont-find-it-in-any-dictionary kind of words (since many of them must be "invented" by the author).

The story revolves around an orthodox professor Ram ( member of TamBrahmAss ;-) ) and his student, Sundar and loads of other characters who find themselves related to these people in one way or the other. Ram wishes to get his daughter, Jay married to Sundar and Sundar is in love with Jiva ,a backward caste girl. Then there comes few more characters and lot of permutations and combinations to add spice to the story.

An absolute timepass novel which made me ROFL in the later half and a bollywood style climax. Strongly recommend this novel if you are missing your daily dose of laughter. My Thanks to Harini for sharing the book

Monday being republic day,this is an extended weekend and I have my long list of work to be done. No,not official work, but things like reading novels, watching movies and more movies. A new item was added to my list when a friend of mine called up on thursday to check if I can accompany him for shopping... Stop!!!! I know it is weird for two guys to out with the actual intention of "shopping".. The fact is, friend of mine is leaving for US next week and we had to buy loads of stuffs for the journey.

So, our shopping maha-expedition started at around noon from jayanagar. By then, I had already spent an hour at one of the book store and had bought two novels and a movie. We headed towards S.P road, the place to look out for (pirated) electronic and computer goods in search of portable hard disk. And then we moved on to buy DVDs, Game CDs,trolleys, warm clothes, shirts and so on.. It was 9 in the night by the time our list had reached the last item, a mobile phone.. At the end of the day, we together have shopped for around 17K and roamed around whole of Bangalore from Jayanagar to SP Road to Majestic to Koramangala to Commercial Street...

What a day!!! and what a start to my weekend..Time to retire to bed after a tireful day.. :)
